A QUICK CULTURE NOTE
Words such as shade, read, realness, house, vogue, mother and clock it have important histories in Black and Latine queer and trans ballroom communities. Mainstream internet culture often uses them without that context.
This dictionary keeps the definitions short for usability, but the history matters. Language moves, meanings change, and no glossary gets to decide somebody's identity for them.
